Five Ways To Enjoy “You” Time.

I’ll be honest when I say there’s nothing I love more than having a little time to myself. Where lots of people love to be surrounded by friends, family and people in general, I’m pretty much the opposite and really just love my own company. For me there is nothing better than curling up in bed after a long, busy day and having nothing but the thoughts in my head to keep me entertained. I believe thinking about ourselves and our wellbeing is often pushed aside when we have so many goals and so many hectic schedules to live up to. For today’s post I thought I would share some of the things that I enjoy doing for a little “me” time.

1. Work Out

If I’m ever in need of a serious de-stress then a vigorous work out is guaranteed to make me feel a million times better. There’s no feeling in the world more satisfying than grabbing your trainers and head phones and working up a sweat after a hectic day/week. I like to work out five times a week and do so both in gym classes and by myself, so I get a nice balance between socialising and exercising. I personally feel like working out is one of the best ways to look after myself, as it helps to release stress and endorphins, makes me feel fitter and healthier and it also helps me gain confidence and feel strong and empowered.

2. Pamper Night

A hot shower or bath infused with a Lush bath bomb, cosy pyjamas, fresh sheets and sweet-smelling candles are key to my pamper night. Add in a little mani-pedi and some face masks and body moisturisers and we’re on to a winner. Taking some time out in the evening to get away from all the hustle and bustle of life is sometimes so needed, and also something I think everyone tends to neglect. Looking after yourself, and enjoying these little things, is so important. Plus, you’ll also look amazing and smell great after doing so.

3. Take a walk in the countryside

Is there anything better than breathing in the fresh air and just strolling around aimlessly looking at the beauty that this world has to offer? With so many pressures on our society these days and technology and social media pretty much taking over our lives (#guilty), I think one of the best ways to do something for yourself is to just get out into the open air to take time away from it all. I’m very fortunate that I live in rural Wales where we have beaches, mountains and forests aplenty, so there’s always somewhere to go to make me feel rejuvenated, but I’m sure just putting in your headphones and walking the city streets instead of rushing to and from different places will be so relaxing too. It’s crazy all of the things we miss simply because we’re so absorbed in this social media facade.

4. Netflix Marathon/Trash TV

On the total other end of the scale, away from the fresh sea air and rolling waves, we have the “Netflix/Trash TV Marathon”. I’m currently obsessed with PLL (aren’t all beauty bloggers?) so in the nights I love to switch off my technological devices and to just relax in bed whilst being engrossed in the crazy town of Rosewood. I also love to curl up on my sofa on a rainy day, with a cosy blanket and some snacks and to watch episode after episode of Teen Mom and KUWTK. Although it may seem super lazy, sometimes you need to take this time out and to just have nothing to think about – other than who A is and who killed Alison, of course.

5. Read

This is something I wish I had more time to do, but the past few weeks, or even months, I’ve been making sure I have time to read before bed. I used to always check my phone before bed – you know, the last check of Facebook, Instagram and Twitter before waking up and scrolling through them all again as though they’re the daily newspaper? – but I found this made it really difficult to go to sleep. Now I love to curl up with a good book and read before I sleep. I find this makes me drift off so much more easily and it’s also great to get lost in a fictional world!

How do you enjoy “you” time?

Pamper night is what I'm all about! I try to really go to town on Friday nights, shave the legs, exfoliate, face mask, paint my nails, fake tan. Prep for the weekend. It's a good relaxation system, even if I have to work saturday/sunday.Tegan xx – Permanent Procrastination

Love this post. I definitely need some me time. I haven't run in ages, but I remember how nice it was and how distressed I felt afterwards. And I love a good Netflix binge too, after getting in to OITNB I realised how relaxing it was just to chill in front of the TV sometimes. KBxx
