We may be a few days days into the new year now and slowly, but surely, leaving 2014 behind but today I though reflecting on some of my favourite beauty products was a great way to procrastinate and avoid essay research and grad scheme applications – oops! I have really enjoyed reading about bloggers’ favourite products and have resulted with a list as long as my arm of products I want to try out for this year! So, I thought I would let you lovely ladies know some of the beauty products I cannot live without so you can add them to your wishlists too!
Urban Decay Naked 2 – I received this for Christmas last year and used it on a daily basis. It really is fantastic, and so easy to create a range of fabulous looks. It’s a rather neutral palette but you can create deep smoky eyes for the evenings too! I’ve had two new palettes to get my teeth into this Christmas (read all about them here) but this definitely won’t be taking a backseat!
Urban Decay Perversion Eyeliner – if you haven’t tried this yet and you’re a lover of pencilled eyes then I urge you to try it. This pencil is amazing as it glides on in a perfect “wet” line which dries after a few seconds. It’s consistency means that there is time to allow for smudging if you really want to vamp up your look! I wear this along the waterline and add a little liquid eyeliner too, just to really seal it in place. It doesn’t budge all day, which means that after years of searching for the perfect eyeliner this has really made my life complete (sad I know!).
Topshop Lipsticks – in 2014 I really fell in love with the quality make-up Topshop has to offer and it has resulted in me finding two of my favourite lipsticks ever. Mink is a light brown shade which I wore all summer for a neutral finish to many make-up looks. In the winter I was on the hunt for a dark and glorious lipstick and Sashay Away is just that. It’s a deep brown shade with a purple hue which I have worn ever since I bought it in December. It truly is fabulous. Topshop lipsticks are of a wondrous quality and I would definitely try them if you haven’t.
MAC Milan Mode Lipstick – this was a bit of a hit and miss beauty product for 2014. In terms of miss it was because it went missing for a few months! I was gutted as I thought I had lost it and it was my favourite lipstick. Then months later I found it in one of my coat pockets and rejoiced. I just love its glossy finish and gorgeous pigmentation. It’s perfect for the summer time.
Bobbi Brown Bronzer – I bought this back in September and have worn it daily ever since! It gives a gorgeous natural contour and, using make-up tutorials on YT and copying Miss Kim K, I feel like I have seriously upped my contour game this year!
MAC “Peachykeen” Blush – Now that my contour is finally getting on point I wanted something to give a natural rosy glow, particularly as I had seen a lot of YouTube beauty gurus applying a light pink blush over their dramatic contour. I purchased this MAC beauty and while I was a little unsure at first whether it was suited I soon fell in love. I love the natural sheen it gives to my cheeks and it really accentuates the contour.
Dolce and Gabanna “Dolce” Perfume – isn’t it funny how scents and smells take you back to the places where you wore them? This perfume I bought in the airport before Dan and I headed off on our first holiday together to Greece. It was probably my most favourite week of the year and every time I wear it it brings back lovely memories of our time together. It’s a sweet, flowery scent so perfect for summer time and the bottle also looks gorgeous on display in my bedroom!
Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation – regular readers are probably sick of me droning on about this foundation now but I just love it! It gives such a flawless complexion and keeps my skin in check all day, as well as helping to hide pesky blemishes. I have a full review here if you’re knew to my blog and fancy a nosy!
St Moriz Fake Tan – fake tanning is such a chore but always so worth it! I love having a natural, warm glow to my skin as it makes me feel slimmer, healthier and generally a lot more confident. St Moriz is great as you apply it the night before a night out or a special occasion and then it lasts for a few days afterwards keeping you look fresh and glowing. It’s so easy to apply and leaves a gorgeous, natural finish which I adore. You can buy this in B&M Bargains for under £3 so if you’re a student on a budget it is ideal!
Samy “Fat Hair” Hair Spray – this hairspray is a game changer. Seriously. I love curling my hair for days and nights out and I was always left deflated at the end of the night as my hair dropped and resembled that of a frizzy mess, With this it stays all night and even after sleeping and waking up the next day my hair is still curled and looks fabulous. I love it, and it’s so cheap too!!
